Findex Inc. is pleased to announce that an article discussing GAP, the gaze analyzing perimeter, authored by Dr. Eri Nakano, Assistant Professor from the Department of Ophthalmology at Kyoto University Graduate School of Medicine, has been featured in the July 2024 issue of "Journal of clinical ophthalmology” a monthly specialist magazine. GAP is a completely new perimeter that allows patients to undergo visual field tests by simply tracking indicators with their eyes, utilizing the latest eye-tracking technology. With the adoption of a head-mounted display, the device is easily portable, and there is no need for the darkroom typically used in traditional visual field tests. Furthermore, patients can undergo visual field tests in comfortable positions such as lying in bed or sitting in a wheelchair without the need to maintain the same posture for an extended period.

In addition, because the product can be used to detect not only visual field abnormality, but also MCI (Mild Cognitive Impairment), it was adopted by the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED) for the R&D of a screening program for slight cognitive dysfunctions, utilizing digital phenotyping of gaze point response and eyeball movements, as part of its 2021 research project for medical-engineering collaboration and implementation of artificial intelligence. We continue to pursue R&D together with Kyoto University.

We will continue our R&D to implement various tests utilizing gaze analysis technology in GAP, in addition to the visual field test which are already being utilized in domestic ophthalmic hospitals and health examination facilities, and the aforementioned MCI test. As a company dedicated to supporting the mental and physical well-being of individuals, we aim to contribute to the ongoing enhancement of corporate value by playing a role in the expansion of equitable medical services and the development of new technologies for a healthy life.
